I had to do a double take as a friend quipped this as we were huddled before a university thesis defense. Of course, we had little knowledge back then how everyday corporate wear should be. After all, what we’ve seen were just snippets from magazines or television shows. As for me, it would’ve included lots of blazers, dress pants and maybe the ubiquitous black high heels. That’s how we perceived it during university days, and so on occasions that required us to put on corporate wear, we’d don the stereotype “corporate wear”, never mind that we looked gaudy and the clothes were inappropriate for our age.
A few years and a more creative, less than corporate environment after, my perspectives have changed. Of course, what that good-natured quip did to me and my fashion mantra was nothing short of positive. On days when appointments require me for some good old corporate wear, I do a bit of researching. Thanks to the likes of the style-collection website such as polyvore.com and looklet.com, not to mention the countless hyped up look on lookbook, fashion inspiration has never been easier. Let me share to you some looks that I’ve tried and some which caught my attention- those that I’m waiting to try on, and those that I’m wishing I could pull off if I tried.
